Key Responsibilities 1. Developing Safety Programs : Create and implement health and safety programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Establish safety policies and procedures to minimize risks and prevent workplace accidents. 2. Conducting Inspections and Audits : Regular safety inspections and audits are conducted to identify potential hazards in the workplace. Assess equipment, tools, and overall work conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards. 3. Training and Education : Responsible for training employees on safety protocols, including induction training for new hires and ongoing training for existing staff. This ensures that all employees are aware of safety guidelines and prepared to handle hazardous situations. 4. Risk Assessment: Assessing and analysing risks associated with specific work schedules and environments is a critical part of the role. Develops strategies to mitigate identified risks and improve safety practices. 5. Incident Investigation: In the event of workplace accidents, the Health and Safety Manager investigates the incidents, documents findings, and implements corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. 6. Compliance Monitoring : Stay updated on health and safety legislation and ensures that the organization complies with all relevant laws and regulations. This includes liaising with health and safety inspectors and regulatory agencies. Qualifications and Skills 1. Educational Background: A degree Engineering with occupational health and safety, environmental science certifications. 2. Experience: 15+ years experience in health and safety management role with min 5 years in Managerial capacity with construction industry. Preference for Steel Structure Assembly/ Errection project experience. 3. Knowledge of Regulations : A strong understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices is essential. 4. Communication Skills : Excellent communication skills are needed to effectively train staff and report on safety performance. 5. Analytical Skills : The ability to assess risks and analyse data to improve safety measures is crucial.
