Staff PostgreSQL Administrator

As a PostgreSQL professional at Agoda, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the scalability, integrity, and security of the database infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Acting as the PostgreSQL technical leader, providing strategic recommendations for database solutions - Administering and proactively monitoring PostgreSQL servers for 24x7 uptime and availability - Troubleshooting and performing performance tuning on PostgreSQL for optimal operation and efficiency - Communicating and reviewing database solutions, technical issues, and application requirements with operations staff and external entities To succeed in this role, you will need: - Bachelor or Master Degree in computer science or related fields - At least 8 years of experience in PostgreSQL, particularly in OLTP environments - Proficiency in database high availability, replication technology, and performance tuning - Knowledge of database design, ER Diagram, and structured query language (SQL) - Experience in deploying and managing PostgreSQL clusters for high availability and scalability - Ability to learn quickly, work under pressure, and meet deadlines - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well in a team - Willingness to participate in on-call rotation Preferred qualifications include experience in Python and Bash scripting, familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, understanding of essential hardware components for database administration, knowledge of monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus, hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, and familiarity with SQL databases and third-party tools.
