Job Description

The scrub nurse role is crucial for a surgical team to function effectively and execute a successful operation. Your primary duties as a scrub nurse include assisting the patient throughout all stages of surgery. This involves providing patient care before, during, and after the surgical procedure. You will also be responsible for helping patients and their attendants comprehend the procedure and addressing any questions related to the treatment. Another essential aspect of your role is to check all equipment before the surgery. Prior to the scheduled operation, you will be required to prepare the operation room by ensuring the availability of all necessary medical equipment and supplies. This includes sterilizing and counting various tools, gowns, scrubs, and other instruments for record-keeping purposes. In addition, you will assist surgeons and assistant surgeons in preparing for the surgery. This involves helping them put on sterile gowns and gloves, as well as draping the patient using towels and sheets according to the established routine. Assembling emergency and surgical materials for easier access is also part of your responsibilities. Just before the surgery begins, you will gather tools such as blades, needles, suction tubes, cautery cords, and mayo stands and position them correctly for easy access during the procedure. During the surgery, you will support the surgeons by maintaining hygiene in the operating room as per medical protocols. Your tasks will include passing the necessary tools to the surgeon, responding to hand signals and medical terminology for specific instruments, and ensuring sterility throughout the procedure. After the surgery is completed, you will perform post-surgery checks. This involves checking the number of instruments used, removing any remaining tools, assisting patients with dressing, and transferring them to their room. You will also monitor the patient's condition and provide post-surgery care instructions as directed by the surgeon. Furthermore, you are responsible for documenting patient information, including the supplies used during the procedure. You will update the medical chart and communicate post-surgery care instructions to patients and their attendants. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 2 years of total work experience. The work location is on-site.,
