Prepare the operating theatre and ensure all equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready before surgery.
Scrub in and assist the surgeon during surgical procedures, passing instruments and supplies in a timely, efficient manner.
Maintain aseptic technique and ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols.
Count surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies before and after procedures to ensure nothing is retained inside the patient.
Monitor and anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure smooth and safe operations.
Collaborate with circulating nurses, anesthetists, and other members of the theatre team.
Dispose of used surgical instruments and waste safely and in accordance with hospital policy.
Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, instruments used, and patient responses.
Participate in surgical team briefings and debriefings.
Assist with the positioning and preparation of patients for surgery when needed.
