A staff nurse is a healthcare professional responsible for providing direct patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and community health centers. They work under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors to deliver high-quality healthcare services to patients. Key Responsibilities : Patient Care : Provide direct nursing care to patients, including assessing their medical conditions, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with activities of daily living. Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of patients and promote a safe and comfortable environment. Nursing Procedures : Perform various nursing procedures, such as wound dressing, intravenous therapy, catheterization, and administering injections. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and safe execution of these tasks. Documentation : Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical histories, nursing care plans, and progress notes. Document all interventions, observations, and treatments performed during the shift according to institutional guidelines. Collaboration : Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, registered nurses, and allied healthcare staff, to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care. Patient Education : Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families regarding their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care practices. Empower patients to actively participate in their own healthcare management and promote healthy lifestyle choices. Emergency Response : Recognize and respond promptly to emergency situations, including cardiac arrests, respiratory distress, and other life-threatening events. Administer CPR, first aid, and other emergency interventions as necessary.
