Specialist - Radiation Oncology

Aster Medcity is looking for Specialist - Radiation Oncology to join our dynamic team and embark on a rewarding career journey. Radiation Therapy Planning : Collaborate with radiation oncologists and other members of the treatment team to develop optimal treatment plans for patients. Utilize advanced treatment planning systems to create radiation therapy treatment plans based on patient-specific anatomy and tumor characteristics. Ensure that treatment plans adhere to prescribed dose limits and meet quality assurance standards. Treatment Machine Commissioning and Calibration : Oversee the commissioning and calibration of radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, brachytherapy units, and treatment planning systems. Perform comprehensive quality assurance tests on treatment machines to verify their accuracy and safety. Collaborate with medical physicists and engineers to maintain and upgrade treatment machines as necessary. Patient Dosimetry and Treatment Delivery : Calculate and verify radiation doses to ensure accurate treatment delivery. Review treatment parameters, monitor the accuracy of patient dose calculations, and perform dose measurements. Provide technical guidance to radiation therapists on treatment delivery techniques and patient positioning. Radiation Safety and Regulatory Compliance : Act as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the radiation oncology department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and radiation safety standards. Develop and implement radiation safety protocols and procedures to minimize radiation exposure risks to patients, staff, and the public. Conduct regular radiation safety audits and inspections, maintain records, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies. Quality Assurance and Quality Control : Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program for radiation therapy equipment, treatment planning systems, and treatment delivery processes. Perform routine quality control checks on treatment machines, imaging systems, and other equipment to ensure their optimal performance and accuracy. Monitor and analyze treatment data to identify trends, evaluate treatment outcomes, and implement corrective actions when necessary. Research and Development : Stay up to date with the latest advances in radiation therapy technology, treatment techniques, and quality assurance methodologies. Participate in research projects and clinical trials related to radiation oncology. Contribute to the development of new treatment protocols and techniques to improve patient outcomes and safety. Team Collaboration and Leadership : Provide leadership and mentorship to junior medical physicists and radiation therapy staff. Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and quality improvement initiatives.
