Nextiva is seeking a Staff Engineer (Java) to design and deliver scalable, reliable solutions for our unified customer experience platform. In this senior role, you ll own key modules from design to implementation, collaborate across teams, and drive innovation in APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. If you re a hands-on Java expert passionate about building high-performance products, we d love to connect.

Responsibilities

  • Design and code the excellent workflow, features, or modules in the Nextiva
  • Tackle challenging engineering and product problems, create solutions to customers
  • Create new ideas with our design teams to continually iterate on the work cross-functionally to evaluate the relative importance of and need for product
  • Working and learning with engineering peers, management, and product
  • Design, implement and deliver Stand-Alone and REST based API solutions that meet the product
  • Take ownership of modules from design to implementation and Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a minimum of 8+ years of experience (Experience with Microservices is mandatory)
  • Strong expertise in Java and Kafka (SME)
  • In-depth knowledge of modern software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps)
  • Experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams
  • Expertise in building RESTful web applications using Java 8+ and Spring Framework
  • Familiarity with Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms is a plus
  • Experience with distributed systems, databases (MySQL, Postgres), and caching solutions (Redis) is a plus
  • Strong understanding of system design principles, security best practices, and testing methodologies

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong programming skills in Core Java
  • 9+ years of practical experience in building enterprise products
  • Strong competency in server-side
  • Familiar with Unix/Linux environment
  • SQL, Spring, Hibernate

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in design, coding, and implementation of web
  • Comfortable with full-stack projects and able to build a minimum working and prototypes
  • Ability to learn and use skills in new
  • Team player as well as an individual contributor
  • Quick debugger and learner
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field
