Sr Tableau Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Solution Development:

• Design, develop, and implement BI solutions leveraging Tableau's capabilities for data preparation, visualization, and dashboarding.
• Gather requirements from business users and translate into technical specifications.
• Optimize Tableau workbooks and data sources for fast performance.
• Integrate Tableau with databases, data warehouses, APIs and other data sources.

2. Report and Dashboard Development:

• Create interactive Tableau dashboards to provide actionable insights through advanced visualizations.
• Collaborate with business teams to understand analysis and reporting requirements.
• Enhance existing Tableau content using best practices for visualization, interactivity and performance.

3. Data Modeling and ETL:

• Design and develop Tableau data extracts, leveraging capabilities like data blends, relationships and calculations.
• Work with upstream data teams to optimize data warehouses and ETL processes to enable fast Tableau dashboards.
• Ensure proper data hygiene, validation and error handling in Tableau data flows.

4. Data Analysis and Insights:

• Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and outliers using Tableau functionality.
• Partner with business users to understand data analysis needs and uncover key insights.
• Develop statistical models, forecasts, clusters and other advanced analytics visualizations.

5. Data Governance and Security:

• Ensure Tableau security capabilities are applied properly to enforce data access policies.
• Collaborate with IT and data teams to align Tableau governance with organizational data standards.
• Profile data sources to identify data quality issues impacting Tableau analytics and reporting.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field.
• 3+ years experience as a Tableau Developer
• Expert knowledge of Tableau functionality including Dashboarding, Visualization, and Data Prep.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills. Understanding of data warehousing concepts.
• Excellent analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Detail and quality-oriented, with data accuracy top of mind.
• Self-driven and able to manage high priority assignments.
