Sr Database Administrator (DBA)

As a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) at Nium, you will be responsible for leading the architecture, performance, and reliability of various database platforms including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RedShift, and others hosted on AWS, primarily RDS/Aurora. You will play a crucial role in establishing modern, automated, and resilient database operations to support the engineering and analytics teams. This position requires a unique blend of deep database internals knowledge along with modern practices such as DBOps, schema versioning, infrastructure-as-code, and database CI/CD. Your primary responsibilities will include architecting, managing, and scaling cloud-native PostgreSQL and MongoDB clusters, implementing and maintaining schema change automation, collaborating with engineering teams on schema design and query optimization, establishing database CI/CD pipelines integrated with GitOps practices, monitoring database health and performance, driving automation for routine operations, managing and securing database environments, planning and executing migration strategies, and supporting compliance needs. To be successful in this role, you should have at least 6 years of production experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL, strong SQL and NoSQL tuning skills, hands-on experience with tools like Liquibase and Flyway for schema management, proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or Go for automation, familiarity with AWS CLI/SDK and infrastructure-as-code tools, experience with monitoring and performance dashboards, and a strong understanding of replication, sharding, WAL tuning, and data lifecycle management.
