Spark EDM Operator

Responsibilities:

Machine Operation & Setup:
Set up EDM machines (both sinker and wire-cut types) according to technical specifications and engineering drawings.

Programming:
Program the machines using appropriate software or control panels.

Process Monitoring:
Monitor the machining process to ensure high-quality output and identify potential problems.

Quality Control & Inspection:
Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, gauges) to ensure they meet required accuracy and quality standards, often within tolerances of +/-0.005mm.

Maintenance:
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on EDM equipment.

Material Handling:
Supply raw materials or parts to the machines and manage electrodes, including deburring them without damaging the profile.

Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and adhere to relevant quality and environmental management system requirements (e.g., ISO 14001).

Qualifications and Skills

Education: A high school diploma or ITI qualification

Experience: with 1-2+ years of experience in EDM machining field.

Skills:

Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments to an accuracy of 0.01mm.

Knowledge of different EDM operations, flushing techniques, and carbon cleaning procedures.
