Roles and Responsibilities As a GIS Specialist , the incumbent will be responsible for executing various GIS-related tasks as per project requirements, including spatial data processing, analysis, and visualization. The role involves working with diverse geospatial datasets to support urban planning, environmental management, and water resource studies. Key Responsibilities: Lead the collection, compilation, processing, and management of geospatial data from multiple sources including satellite imagery, drone surveys, governmental datasets, and field observations ensuring data accuracy and reliability. Perform image processing and spatial analysis , including classification, interpretation, and thematic mapping, to derive actionable insights as per project objectives. Prepare GIS-based maps, spatial datasets, and analytical layers to support project assessments and facilitate area and feature calculations. Develop and maintain structured geospatial databases , ensuring proper documentation and version control. Conduct field visits when necessary to capture site-specific data and validate spatial information. Collaborate closely with hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geologists, and civil engineers to integrate GIS outputs into technical reports, planning proposals, and visual presentations. Generate technical reports, thematic maps, dashboards, and 3D visualizations to effectively communicate findings to clients, regulatory authorities, and internal teams. Qualifications and Skills Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in GIS/Remote Sensing, Geo-Informatics, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience: 1–2 years of professional experience in GIS and remote sensing applications. Technical Proficiency: Strong command of QGIS (mandatory) and working knowledge of AutoCAD (preferred). Expertise in spatial analysis , geodatabase management (SQL, PostgreSQL), and scripting for automation (Python, R). Hands-on experience with remote sensing workflows , including image classification, change detection, and satellite data processing. Familiarity with 3D modelling and visualization tools for urban simulations and infrastructure planning. Domain Knowledge: Exposure to water resource and groundwater management projects is advantageous. Additional Skills: Understanding of GPS data integration , remote sensing principles, and data quality assurance practices.
