Job Description: Production Head – Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturing Position: Production Head Location: Coimbatore Industry: Aluminium Extrusion Manufacturing Reports To: General Manager Experience Required: 12+ years in aluminium extrusion or a related manufacturing industry Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent Job Summary: The Production Head will be responsible for overseeing the entire aluminium extrusion production process, ensuring efficient operations, adherence to quality standards, and optimization of resources. This role involves leading the production team, implementing process improvements, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating with other departments such as Quality Control, Maintenance, and Sales to meet production and business goals. Key Responsibilities: 1. Production Planning & Execution Develop and implement production plans to meet customer demand, considering die stock availability and minimum order levels. Ensure timely execution of production schedules, balancing efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Monitor billet casting, extrusion, aging, and packing processes to ensure seamless workflow. Minimize downtime and improve press utilization through efficient scheduling and process improvements. 2. Process & Quality Optimization Maintain strict adherence to quality standards, ensuring dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and surface finish compliance. Work closely with Quality Control to address production defects, rejections, and implement corrective actions. Ensure proper die selection and weight range calculations to optimize extrusion efficiency. Oversee the aging process to achieve required mechanical properties in extruded profiles. 3. Cost & Resource Management Optimize raw material usage, reducing scrap generation and maximizing billet yield. Monitor fuel and energy consumption (LPG, Power) and implement cost-saving measures. Manage and control production-related expenses while ensuring quality and timely delivery. 4. Machine & Equipment Management Ensure optimal performance of extrusion presses (4” & 5”), billet casters, and aging furnaces. Work with the Maintenance Manager to schedule preventive maintenance, minimizing breakdowns. Oversee the die correction and tool room activities, ensuring die longevity and performance. 5. Team Leadership & Workforce Management Supervise production supervisors, operators, and shop floor workers, ensuring effective shift management. Conduct training programs to improve skill levels of machine operators and technicians. Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the production team. 6. ERP & Reporting Ensure accurate data entry in the ERP system, tracking production, rejection rates, and process parameters. Analyze production reports, rejection reports, die performance reports, and suggest process improvements. Coordinate with Sales & Dispatch to align production with customer requirements and delivery timelines. 7. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with ISO, environmental, and workplace safety standards. Implement best practices to reduce emissions, scrap, and environmental impact.
