Job Title: Jewellery CAD Operator Department: Design & Development Reports To: Design Manager/Lead Designer Location: Employment Type: Full-time Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Jewellery CAD Operator to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have experience in using CAD software to design intricate jewellery pieces and work closely with the design and production teams to ensure the highest quality of designs. The CAD operator will be responsible for creating 3D models, technical drawings, and prototypes of jewellery collections for production. Key Responsibilities: CAD Design Creation: Create detailed 3D CAD models of jewellery pieces (rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc.) using CAD software such as Rhino, Matrix, or 3Design based on design sheet, Market Sample, Reference Image. Ensure designs are technically accurate, and meet production feasibility and quality standards. Collaboration with Designers: Work closely with senior designers to translate conceptual designs into functional CAD models. Incorporate design modifications and adjustments based on feedback from designers, clients, or production teams. Prototyping and Visualization: Generate renderings, prototypes, and animations of jewellery designs for client presentations or internal reviews. Provide detailed specifications, including dimensions, stone settings, and material choices for production. Production Support: Assist with creating technical drawings and documentation for the manufacturing team. Ensure designs are optimized for different manufacturing processes, including casting, stone setting, and finishing. Quality Control: Review and refine designs to ensure quality and accuracy, minimizing errors before final production. Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during the manufacturing process. Software Management: Stay updated on the latest CAD software updates, tools, and trends in jewellery design. Maintain and organize CAD files, ensuring proper file management protocols are followed. Key Skills and Qualifications: Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Jewellery Design, Industrial Design, or a related field is preferred, though not mandatory if there is equivalent experience. Experience: 2+ years of experience in jewellery CAD design, with a strong portfolio of previous work. Proficiency in jewellery CAD software such as Rhino, Matrix, 3Design, and/or ZBrush. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of 3D modelling, rendering, and animation. Familiarity with the jewellery manufacturing process, including casting, setting, and finishing techniques. Attention to Detail: Excellent eye for detail, especially when it comes to intricate designs and stone settings. Creativity & Problem-Solving: Ability to think creatively and adapt designs based on functional and aesthetic requirements. Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of 3D printing technologies and rapid prototyping. Experience with gemological design considerations (stone size, shape, setting styles). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
