Software Test Engineer, Silicon, Embedded Systems

As a member of Google's Hardware Testing Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of our custom-designed machines that constitute a powerful computing infrastructure. Your responsibilities will involve designing test equipment for prototypes, developing protocols for scaling tests globally, and collaborating closely with design engineers to enhance hardware quality and reliability. With a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in Linux kernel driver test automation and framework development, you are well-equipped to contribute effectively to the development and delivery of silicon systems at Google. Additionally, having 2 years of experience in testing embedded software on SoC on Linux, Android, Real-Time Operating System, or BareMetal, including familiarity with hardware architecture, board schematics, protocols, and standards, further strengthens your qualifications for this role. Preferred qualifications for this position include a Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, 4 years of experience working with prototype devices, experience in Android application development, and excellent programming skills in Python. These qualifications will enhance your ability to drive test automation using existing frameworks and collaborate with the Engineering Productivity team to develop new test frameworks based on requirements. Your contributions will be instrumental in promoting productivity by creating and maintaining policies, processes, procedures, methods, tests, and documentation of silicon deliverables. You will be responsible for identifying test requirements, selecting appropriate tools and methods, carrying out testing of Silicon systems, influencing designs to enable testing and validation, and driving test automation initiatives.
