Job Description

Job Title:

Software Security Engineer (CVE Remediation & Patch Management)

Location:

Remote / Offshore (India preferred)

Duration:

3-Month Contract (with possible extension)

Overview:

CVE remediation and patch management

Responsibilities:

Run and maintain vulnerability scans using cybersecurity tools and open-source scanners (Trivy, Clair, etc.).
Review CVE feeds and determine applicability based on deployed components.
Prioritize vulnerabilities by CVSS score, exploitability, and impact.
Apply OSS or vendor patches; rebuild, test, and deploy fixed components.
Conduct regression and validation testing post-remediation.
Maintain detailed CVE tracking logs, documentation, and reports.
Work with internal teams to verify application stability and compliance after fixes.
Provide weekly progress and status reports.

Qualifications:

3+ years in DevOps, software engineering, or cybersecurity.
Experience with
containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
and
CICD pipelines
.
Familiarity with
Linux OS patching
,
Python/Go/Java-based dependency updates
, and
OpenSSL
,
Log4j
,
Apache
, or similar libraries.
Knowledge of
CVE scoring systems (CVSS)
and vulnerability lifecycle management.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Tools/Technologies:

Trivy, Clair, Grype, Anchore, HPE Cybersecurity CVE Tools
GitHub / Jenkins / ArgoCD / Kubernetes
Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, MinIO, Hive, Spark
Jira, Confluence, Excel-based CVE trackers

Deliverables:

Weekly reports of fixed and open CVEs.
Evidence of patch validation and test results.
Updated software inventory and dependency matrices.
