Software Engineer-Vice President

The project you will be working on is a highly ambitious and impactful initiative that aims to reimagine the functional architecture supporting the firm's trading business. This project is designed to empower the next two decades of growth by developing an extensible and scalable platform that delivers operational efficiencies. The approach for this multi-year effort is rooted in engineering principles and aligns with the firm's core technology strategy. Your role will involve working on both the infrastructure and core business aspects of the project. On the infrastructure side, you will focus on establishing the platform's capabilities and developing the development environment to enhance the experience for other engineers using the platform. On the core business side, you will work on creating an extensible model that accurately represents the firm's business, developing core services, and collaborating with business teams to build services on top of the core services. Your impact will be significant as you gain a deep understanding of the firm's businesses and take responsibility for developing core models and services. By collaborating closely with engineers across different teams, you will deliver a range of services that are cost-effective to maintain and extend, addressing critical business challenges by meeting functional and non-functional requirements. To fulfill your potential in this role, you will: - Build software services and libraries that offer business and platform functionality with core security and maintainability features - Collaborate with engineers and firm experts to develop models for representing the firm's business - Innovate creative solutions to complex business problems - Influence teams across the organization to challenge existing practices - Manage the entire lifecycle of software components from requirements to release and beyond, including troubleshooting and remediation in production environments Basic Qualifications: - Proficiency in Java with at least 7 years of experience - Experience with Distributed systems - Strong understanding of SDLC practices and tooling, including version control and CI/CD - Ability to debug both new and legacy software effectively - Effective communication of technical concepts, both written and orally - Strong teamworking and collaboration skills needed to work effectively with diverse and geographically distributed teams Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of Cloud technologies, especially GCP - Experience with Containerization, specifically Kubernetes - Familiarity with open-source technologies - Experience in monitoring, measuring, auditing, and supporting software,
