Role Overview: As a Software Engineering Intern at Stripe, you will be working on real, impactful projects that contribute to the growth of the internet's GDP. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various systems and technologies, participate in systems design and testing, and present your work to the team and the wider organization. Each project you work on will be an essential part of the team's roadmap and directly support Stripe's mission. Throughout the internship, you will be guided by a dedicated intern manager and have the chance to work on projects aimed at enhancing global commerce. Key Responsibilities: - Write software that will be utilized in production, making a meaningful impact at Stripe - Engage in technical feedback exchanges through code reviews and design discussions - Collaborate with fellow engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to actively seek and integrate feedback - Foster rapid learning by asking insightful questions, effectively working with your intern manager and teammates, and clearly communicating the status of your work Qualification Required: Minimum Requirements: - Possess a strong foundational understanding of computer science by pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in computer science, math, or a related field - Demonstrate some experience and familiarity with programming, either through side projects or coursework, with proficiency in languages like Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, and Go - Showcase previous internship or multi-person project experience, including open source contributions, highlighting the ability to evaluate and receive feedback from mentors, peers, and stakeholders - Exhibit the capability to grasp unfamiliar systems through independent research and collaboration with mentors and subject matter experts Preferred Qualifications: - Have at least 2 years of university education or equivalent work experience - Possess specialized knowledge in specific areas while maintaining general skills, such as expertise in frontend technologies and a broad understanding of how a service manages an HTTP request - Understand and have experience in producing high-quality pull requests with comprehensive test coverage, ensuring projects are completed with minimal defects - Be familiar with navigating and managing tasks in new code bases featuring multiple languages - Demonstrate clear written communication skills to explain work to stakeholders, team members, and others at Stripe Additional Company Details: The in-office expectations for Stripes vary based on location, team, and role. For instance, Stripes in Bucharest, Romania are expected to spend 80% of their time in the office, while those in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, and Bengaluru, India work 100% from the office.
