Software Engineer, Database Internals

You will be joining Yugabyte on a mission to become the default transactional database for enterprises building cloud-native applications. YugabyteDB, the PostgreSQL-compatible distributed database, is resilient, scalable, and flexible, running on any cloud and enabling developers to be instantly productive using familiar APIs. The transactional database market is projected to reach $64B by 2025, and with YugabyteDB's cloud-native design, on-demand scalability, and support for geographical data distribution, the company is well-positioned to meet the market demand for geo-distributed, high-scale workloads. **Key Responsibilities:** - Research, design, implement, test, and release new database features and enhancements - Write high-quality C/C++ code and comprehensive test cases, actively participating in the code review process - Troubleshoot correctness, stability, or performance issues related to statement planning and execution in a complex distributed system - Identify and implement performance improvements, such as enhancing plan selection, batching, parallelizing work, or pushing down plan subtrees to data nodes - Improve database scalability as cluster sizes and transaction throughput expand - Enhance the database administrator experience across different environments with varying resource constraints, deployment models, and support levels - Contribute to the growth of the open-source database product, YugabyteDB **Qualifications Required:** - 7+ years of experience with compiled languages, such as C/C++ - Knowledge of database internals, compilers, query planning/optimization - Understanding of concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization - Proficiency in systems engineering fundamentals, including distributed systems, operating systems, and databases - BS/MS/PhD in CS or related field, or equivalent experience,
