Software Development Engineer, Database

Role Overview: You will be joining a team of experts at Apple working on modern database technologies, distributed systems, and storage engineering to develop and contribute to PostgreSQL, the world's most popular open-source relational database. Your main focus will be to push the limits of open-source PostgreSQL to offer enterprise-class performance, availability, and durability to Apple's customers, ensuring reliable administration. Qualifications Required: - 8+ years of relevant experience in the IT industry, with a focus on developing database systems, storage engines, and distributed systems. - Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Rust. - Advanced understanding of data structures, algorithms in storage and indexing, and coding in C, C++. - Experience in software development within open-source communities. - Knowledge of relational databases" internals, particularly PostgreSQL (or MySQL, MariaDB). - Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, systems/application design & architecture. - Familiarity with Linux Kernel development is a plus. - Expertise in code performance and optimization is highly preferred. - Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with solid collaboration skills.
