Role Overview The Erection Head plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the end-to-end site execution of power generation projects, from mobilization to final handover. The position ensures timely, safe, and quality-driven erection of electrical and mechanical equipment within contractual and statutory requirements, while effectively managing contractors, resources, and customer relationships. Key Responsibilities 1. Site Mobilisation Review project contract for scope, technical specifications, safety, quality, and statutory requirements. Conduct site visits and kick-off meetings with customers/PMC representatives. Finalize erection contractors in coordination with the Project Controller. Allocate Site Engineers and mobilize site infrastructure (office, store, HSE & Quality Engineers). 2. Site Installation Management Oversee erection and installation of DG sets, transformers, BOT, panels, switchgear, structures, and other equipment within Jaksons scope. Ensure adherence to design specifications, technical drawings, project milestones, and timelines. Coordinate with design, procurement, and project control teams for timely material availability. Monitor contractor deployment, task allocation, and daily work progress. Maintain statutory registers and ensure proper inward material certification for payment processing. 3. Safety Compliance Implement and enforce HSE policies as per statutory and company standards. Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. Ensure mandatory PPE usage and adherence to safety protocols. Investigate incidents/near-misses and implement corrective actions. 4. Quality Assurance Prepare and implement Field Quality Plans (FQP) and Quality Assurance Plans (QAP). Conduct inspections for alignment, torque, welding, insulation resistance, etc. Maintain comprehensive quality documentation and test records. Coordinate with QA teams and third-party agencies for inspections and audits. 5. Vendor and Contractor Management Monitor and evaluate performance of erection contractors and vendors. Ensure compliance with technical, safety, and quality parameters. Approve contractor bills based on job measurement sheets (JMS) and milestone achievements. Prepare and certify RA bills for customer submission. Identify and develop new contractors for future projects. 6. Customer and PMC Coordination Act as the primary site contact for customers and PMC representatives. Participate in site meetings, address queries, and align execution with client expectations. Provide regular project status updates and risk mitigation plans. Facilitate inspections, approvals, and closure of punch points. 7. Testing and Commissioning Prepare site testing and inspection checklists. Plan and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. Coordinate functional and performance testing as per contractual requirements. Liaise with OEMs, suppliers, and internal teams for troubleshooting and final handover. Ensure timely preparation of commissioning reports and project sign-offs. Key Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and site management capabilities. In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical erection in power generation projects. Expertise in safety and quality management systems. Proficiency in contractor management and vendor negotiations. Excellent client handling and communication skills. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Qualifications & Experience Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Experience: 15-20 years in site erection and commissioning of power generation projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Certifications: Preferred PMP, Safety Certifications (NEBOSH/IOSH).
