Job Description

You will be joining Rapyuta Robotics, an ETH Zurich startup based in Tokyo, which aims to lead the global market in making robots more accessible. As the Simulation Lead, your primary responsibility will be to lead and scale simulation capabilities that support product development and business analysis. Your tasks will involve defining strategies for running simulations across different environments, developing ROS supported fleet simulations for complex multi-robot systems, and creating transparent simulation experiences with strong feedback loops. Your role will be instrumental in enabling decision-grade outputs. **Key Responsibilities:** - Define strategy for running simulations across on-prem, cloud, or hybrid environments with a focus on scale, reliability, and cost control - Consolidate and standardize simulation methods to minimize duplication and complexity - Lead the development of ROS supported fleet simulation capabilities for complex robot fleet behavior and performance validation - Design and implement full-stack integration testing through simulation to validate end-to-end system interactions - Identify and enhance performance bottlenecks including throughput, latency, and multi-robot coordination efficiency - Develop distributed simulation setups for higher concurrent robot counts and realistic fleet scenarios - Optimize simulation workflows for computational efficiency while ensuring physics accuracy and system fidelity - Incorporate usability features like real-time feedback, simple configuration updates, clear logs, and a live dashboard experience - Provide early estimation signals and quality gates to detect issues before field deployment - Ensure accurate modeling of new product functions reflected in automated simulations - Collaborate with engineering, product, and field stakeholders to prioritize scenarios and align simulation outputs with decision needs - Maintain a balance between scale, performance, and cost considerations without defaulting to high-reliability tiers unnecessarily **Qualifications Required:** - Minimum 7 years in simulation or related fields with hands-on ownership of simulation strategy and delivery - Proficiency in ROS1/ROS2 and robotics simulation stacks, including experience with fleet simulation and multi-agent systems - Experience in building distributed or parallelized simulation workflows and working with CI-triggered simulation runs - Strong programming skills in simulation tooling and automation, preferably Python and C++ - Background in measuring and improving latency, throughput, and resource utilization in complex systems - Ability to translate product requirements into representative scenarios, oracles, and pass-fail criteria You will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging problems using a wide range of technologies and tools.
