Significance Inc. is seeking a Director of Contracts to join their growing team. The Director of Contracts is responsible for the leadership, strategy, and oversight of all contractual activities across the company’s federal portfolio, encompassing both Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian agency contracts. This position will oversee the contracts department and ensure that all proposals, contracts, and subcontracts comply with applicable acquisition regulations—including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and civilian agency supplements—while simultaneously drive operational efficiency, manage risk, and support business growth through corporate M&A activities and JVs. The Director serves as the company’s senior authority on contract negotiation, administration, and compliance, partnering with internal stakeholders and external customers to ensure successful contract execution and adherence to government requirements. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Contracts organization, including succession planning and advancement pathways. Establish and own the corporate Contracts governance framework, ensuring consistent, scalable and compliant contracting practices across all programs. Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, COO, CFO, BD Leadership and Program Management on regulatory requirements, contractual risk, pricing strategies and competitive positioning. Provide leadership across the company’s M&A activities from initial evaluation through deal execution to post-deal integration activities. Provide leadership and oversight for M&A and JV activities, including due diligence, risk assessment, novation strategies, and post integration planning. Represent the company in discussions with senior government officials, industry associations, and contracting partners to influence acquisition strategies and regulatory interpretations Contract Management & Negotiation: Oversee the full contract lifecycle—from proposal development and negotiation through award, administration, modification, and closeout—for both prime contracts and subcontracts. Negotiate and review a variety of agreements, including NDAs, teaming agreements, subcontracts, and complex government contracts. Support proposal development and pricing activities to ensure terms and conditions are compliant, competitive, and aligned with company strategy. Ensure timely and accurate contract deliverables, funding management, and documentation in coordination with Program Management and Finance. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and other agency-specific regulations, as well as company policies and ethical standards. Develop internal controls and audit processes to maintain readiness for government audits and reviews (e.g., DCMA, DCAA, Inspector General). Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual and regulatory risks across multiple agencies and contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M, IDIQ, GWAC, BPA, etc.). Manage and support responses to customer data calls, audits, and corrective action plans as needed. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Legal to manage litigation support, intellectual property considerations, contract disputes, and resolution strategies. Collaborate with Finance to align contract structures with margin targets, indirect rates, cash-flow considerations, and revenue forecasting. Work with BD, Capture, and PM teams to ensure contracting strategies support business growth, client satisfaction, and mission success. Provide executive-level insight for annual operating plans, corporate budgeting, and strategic initiatives involving contract strategy or risk exposure. Continuous Improvement: Enhance contract management systems and processes to improve efficiency, visibility, and compliance Develop and deliver corporate training programs on FAR/DFARS, subcontracting, audit readiness and contract management best practices Establish and monitor KPIs for contract performance, timeliness, and accuracy Stay current on federal acquisition trends, regulatory updates, and policy changes affecting both defense and civilian contracting. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Legal Studies, or related field required. Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred. NCMA certification (CPCM, CFCM,or CCCM) strongly preferred. Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in federal contract management, including at least 8 years leading contracts teams Prior M&A transactions and JV experience. Experience briefing executive leadership on contract strategy, risk exposure and compliance Demonstrated experience managing complex contracts across both DoD and civilian agencies. Proven success leading teams and managing relationships with contracting officers and government stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific supplements Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, and to prioritize tasks, in a fast-paced environment Experience supporting proposals, negotiations, and administration of multiple contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M, IDIQ, etc.) $195,000 - $215,000 a year At Significance, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply.
