Role & responsibilities Responsible for operating and maintaining the solvent extraction plant to ensure efficient extraction of oil from oilseeds/cake using hexane or similar solvents. The role demands strong operational discipline, safety compliance, and process knowledge. Key Responsibilities: Operate extractor, desolventizer-toaster (DT), evaporator, and condenser systems. Monitor and control process parameters like temperature, pressure, flow rate, and solvent recovery. Ensure smooth material feeding (seed cake) and discharge. Monitor solvent losses and ensure maximum recovery to reduce cost and emissions. Conduct routine inspections and cleaning of equipment and filters. Maintain daily logs of production, parameters, and solvent usage. Handle plant start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations as per SOP. Report equipment faults and support maintenance activities. Follow safety protocols for working with flammable solvents (e.g., hexane). Coordinate with refinery and utility teams for smooth operations. Requirements: ITI / Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical or relevant discipline. 25 years of experience in solvent extraction plant operations. Knowledge of extractor design (rotocel, loop-type, etc.). Familiarity with DTDC, evaporation, and solvent condensation systems. Understanding of fire & explosion safety norms (ATEX zones). Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work in rotational shifts and handle emergencies.
