Sound knowledge of General Industrial business in India Sound technical knowledge should be able handle customer queries. Experience & proven track-record in generating new business in General Industrial segment. Develops sales and related business strategies on a regional or national level; sales area is generally large in complexity and scope, has a considerable sales volume Responds to questions and concerns from customers, applies a thorough understanding of product lines and related application methods, and ensures customer satisfaction; provides direction to other personnel when required. Serves as a business development representative, perform sales and account maintenance activities, which includes prioritizing and assigning work and determining work direction. POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Sales Technician is responsible together with the sales manager for growing the sales and margin for the region and customers under his/her responsibility. Working close with both Sales, R&D and the customers. Formal Education: Higher level education in a related field Knowledge & Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the Industrial wood coatings market or related Segments. Technical support experience to major accounts (including UV-lines) in the coatings sectors Good basic knowledge of coatings technology and curing processes ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct trials at new/existing clients and propose the right coating solutions as per their production system. Ensures customer quality and service expectations are met. Supports customers with trouble-shooting, general technical support and process development. Eliminates or reduces customer complaints. Helps increase volume growth. Communicates extended product knowledge in wood technology. Attends coatings seminars and trade shows pertinent to sales/marketing. Maintains contact with laboratory on current technical issues. Assists with equipment installation and various line or equipment modifications/adjustments. Conducts technical training seminars at customers facilities. Evaluates product complaints and decides the best way to resolve problems. Assists customers in preparing paint specifications to meet product applications. Troubleshoots on-line technical problems such as correcting batches and formulation of products. Advises customers of product line changes and improvements. Maintains expertise in product finishes equipment use and surface preparation. Assists customers with product inventory control/re-ordering. Trains customers on product knowledge and application methods. Assists Area Sales Managers by preparing samples, panels, etc. for presentations. Maintains customer technical service issues on file for follow-up. Other duties as assigned. Product development, possibly with the technical departments of the Group. The perception of the interests of the company at trade shows. Regular exchange of ideas with Group companies. Domestic and Foreign Missions, as arranged by the supervisor. POSITION CHALLENGES: Execute the Product Finishes business strategy. Grow share of industrial coatings in Region. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS Performs a wide variety of projects requiring comprehensive understanding of powder coating product formula adjustment, specialized techniques, manufacturing and powder paint application equipment etc Capable of conducting the Powder coating DOEs and other tasks with minimum direction from superiors. Serves as a lead to staff to include assigning and monitoring work and providing direction. Meets with management and customers to examine project objectives, outline tasks, deliver presentations, explain project results, and other related activities; may receive guidance on highly complex or sensitive projects. Develops project objectives and sample applications and outlines project tasks based on direction received from the customer. Reviews and develops reports and documents detailing project processes, results, and conclusions and leads or performs additional work when required; responds to comprehensive questions and concerns from customers. Interprets and applies department policies and procedures and applicable safety policies, laws, rules, and regulations; ensures compliance with these areas. Coordinates color matching, technology, and related projects with other divisions, departments, or groups; works with technology to review and approve new or modified formulas. Have the ability to coordinate with other functions like manufacturing, QC , technical service , purchase etc to achieve results for the assigned tasks Reviews and completes documents, forms, and reports regarding operations, daily activities, and customer requests. Capable to communicate effectively with colleagues in other parts of the organization within and outside India to steer the projects assigned. Performs powder batch scale up and conduct powder coating DOEs at production or toll facilities of Sherwin Williams as required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 10-12 years of experience within the powder coatings industry preferably in General Industrial coatings EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor s/Master s degree in Chemistry or equivalent education and experience.
