Description
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a robust technical background in designing, specifying, and integrating large-scale mechanical components for dams and hydropower projects. Your primary focus will involve pressure pipelines (penstocks), high-capacity valves, and hydraulic or mechanical gates, to support both new installations and asset rehabilitation efforts. Your key responsibilities will include designing and specifying large-diameter steel penstocks, expansion joints, anchor blocks, and supports. You will be responsible for selecting and integrating isolation and control valves such as spherical, butterfly, and Howell-Bunger valves. Additionally, you will develop gate layouts including radial, vertical lift, and slide gates with appropriate actuation systems. It will be crucial for you to evaluate the structural and fatigue performance under transient hydraulic loads and collaborate effectively with civil, hydraulic, and structural teams to coordinate mechanical interfaces. Furthermore, you will provide support for procurement, fabrication reviews, and site installation planning. To excel in this role, you must possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (a Master's degree is preferred) and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in hydro-mechanical design for dams, hydropower, or large water infrastructure projects. A solid understanding of transient load effects, fatigue, and pressure boundary design is essential. Familiarity with international standards (e.g., ASME, AWWA, EN) for pressure equipment and valves is required. Experience in coordinating with civil and structural teams on embedded parts and foundations is also a key requirement. Proficiency in mechanical analysis tools and CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, and ANSYS will be beneficial for this role.
