Role Responsibilities Design and develop robust mainframe applications using COBOL. Maintain and enhance existing mainframe applications for performance optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions. Implement and monitor CICS transactions to ensure efficient processing. Develop JCL scripts for effective job scheduling and execution. Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure application reliability. Document technical specifications and processes for development projects. Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve mainframe issues in a timely manner. Provide technical support to users and other developers. Focus on performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications. Ensure compliance with security standards and practices. Mentor junior developers and assist in skill development. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Prepare and deliver presentations on technical topics and project updates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe development and support. Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. Experience with database management systems and SQL. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues. Familiarity with mainframe performance tuning techniques. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC). Experience in technical documentation and process mapping. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to adopt new technologies and methodologies. Knowledge of Agile development practices is a plus. Experience with automated testing tools is preferred. Certification in mainframe technologies is an advantage. A proactive approach and a strong work ethic.
