Position Overview

Senior Java Developer

full-time, on-site position

Remote work is not an option - please apply only if you are able to work physically in our office.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, write, modify, integrate, and test

  Java software code

  for seismic data visualization and processing.
• Develop efficient, interactive visualization components for seismic datasets.
• Maintain and enhance existing programs by implementing performance improvements and new functionality.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and data scientists to translate technical requirements into software features.
• Diagnose and resolve software issues; document solutions and communicate progress effectively.
• Prepare

  reports, manuals, and documentation

  covering software design, status, and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure code quality through testing, peer reviews, and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in

  Software Development

  ,

  Computer Science

  , or related field.
• A minor degree or coursework in

  Geophysics

  ,

  Physics

  , or

  Mathematics

  is an asset.

Experience:

• Minimum

  5 years of professional experience

  in Java software development, preferably in scientific or engineering domains.
• Proven experience with

  Java graphics libraries

  and visualization frameworks.
• Familiarity with

  seismic data processing

  concepts is highly desirable.
• Experience working with

  Landmark's SeisSpace

  environment is an asset.
• Working knowledge of the

  Colorado School of Mines JTK package

  , particularly the Mosaic and related classes (see: Mines JTK GitHub) is an asset.
• Understanding of

  Javaseis I/O

  (javaseis.com/design.htm) is an asset.
• Proficiency in

  English

  (written and spoken) is required.

Skills and Attributes

• Strong understanding of

  object-oriented design

  , data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with

  multithreading

  and

  performance optimization

  in data-intensive applications.
• Familiarity with

  scientific visualization

  and

  numerical computation

  in Java.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
