Senior Java Developer- OSS/BSS/NMS

Role Overview: You will join Ciena's Blue Planet division, working in an agile and innovative team dedicated to automating complex networks using leading-edge technologies. Your role will involve designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native microservices, developing REST APIs, containerizing services, integrating with Apache Kafka, managing database schemas, implementing RBAC, and participating in CI/CD pipelines. Key Responsibilities: - Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native microservices using Java (Spring Boot) and related technologies - Develop REST APIs for configuration, operational data, and telemetry delivery - Containerize services using Docker and orchestrate deployments in Kubernetes/OpenShift environments - Integrate services with Apache Kafka for inter-service communication and job execution tracking - Design and manage relational database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity - Implement RBAC and secure vault/password handling for sensitive credentials - Participate in branching strategies, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment Qualifications Required: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience - Minimum of 7+ years in Java (Spring Boot) with hands-on experience in microservice development - Strong working knowledge of Apache Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and microservice scaling strategies - Proficiency in PostgreSQL/MySQL schema design, data modeling, and performance tuning - Understanding of network security best practices and experience with CI/CD workflows - Nice to have: Past experience in network orchestration systems, familiarity with SDN/NFV concepts, expertise in secure API gateways, and contributions to open-source automation frameworks Company Details: Ciena is committed to prioritizing a people-first approach and fostering an environment where employees feel respected, valued, and heard.
