Description
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Arup, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects within the Data Centre team alongside a collaborative and expert team. Your role will involve being a part of multi-disciplinary project teams, overseeing the delivery of high-quality engineering service designs, and supervising junior engineers and BIM staff. You will play a key role in managing the timely delivery of designs while adhering to cost constraints. In this position, you will take on a prominent role in the building services elements of projects, including producing calculations, drawings, tender documents, feasibility studies, and condition reports. Additionally, you will design and survey building projects, both new-build and refurbishment, and take on supervisory responsibilities within the engineering team. Project management tasks for small and medium projects will be part of your responsibilities, working autonomously and reporting to the Project Manager or Director. As a mentor for graduate engineers and manager of technicians, you will liaise with other building services engineers within Arup and maintain relationships with external collaborators such as architects, clients, project managers, quantity surveyors, and contractors. You will be responsible for planning your engineering team's resources, monitoring budgets, and ensuring client briefing information is disseminated effectively. Your role will involve liaising with co-professionals and clients, representing the discipline in project meetings, developing innovative designs, presenting initial concepts, and producing specifications and drawings. Site visits, inspections, and internal project management of small-medium projects will also be part of your responsibilities. To be successful in this role, you should have a first or advanced qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline within the construction industry. A professional qualification (chartered) is preferred, along with experience in producing engineering designs, calculations, and specifications using technical software. Exposure to Datacentre projects and skills in BIM/Revit would be advantageous, as well as proficiency in using digital tools or programming skills.
