Senior Content Designer (API Documentation)

As a Senior Content Designer at Autodesk, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of how ideas come to life by creating and improving the content experience for the Autodesk developer platform. Your primary responsibility will be to design and produce high-impact developer education materials, including API reference documentation, conceptual guides, tutorials, and code samples. By advocating for the developer community, engaging with users, and translating their insights into actionable recommendations, you will influence product priorities and enhance the overall developer experience. To excel in this role, you should have a minimum of 6 years of experience in a content-focused role for a technical audience, such as Content Design, UX Writing, Technical Writing, or Developer Advocacy for a platform company. A strong portfolio demonstrating your work, user research process, and measurable impact on user success is required. You should possess a deep empathy for developers, a solid understanding of REST APIs, SDKs, and common developer tools, as well as expertise in information architecture, content strategy, and UX principles in complex technical domains. As an exceptional writer and communicator, you must have the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging content. Your data literacy will be essential in measuring content impact and driving continuous improvements in user experience. A Bachelor's degree in English, computer science, human-computer interaction, or a related field is preferred. Hands-on experience in designing API and GraphQL experiences, familiarity with Autodesk products, and SDK documentation will be advantageous. By collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other Designers, you will embed Developer Experience (DevEx) principles into the product development process and ensure content is a forethought, not an afterthought. Defining and tracking key metrics to measure the impact of your work and optimize for success will be critical in enhancing the developer journey and driving continuous improvements in the content experience.
