As a part of Lam India Global Hardware Team (LIGHT) within the Global Products Group, you will be contributing to the design and engineering of cutting-edge etch and deposition products aimed at addressing the challenges in the semiconductor industry. Your role as a Mechanical Engineer at Lam involves designing and defining innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. You will conduct feasibility studies, testing, and provide design guidance to ensure the successful development of technology packaging. Your contributions will directly impact the design and development of subsystems and assemblies utilized in semiconductor machines. Key Responsibilities: - Support the entire life cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, from conceptualization to productization, including designing, CAD modeling, development, and testing. - Lead design reviews, project evaluations, and participate in technical discussions. - Collaborate with suppliers to ensure parts meet performance and cost objectives. - Design components using various materials and coatings, and select OEM components. - Ensure documentation complies with industry standards for geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. - Conduct detailed analyses such as FEA, thermal, stress, and manufacturability to specify designs accurately. - Develop feasibility studies and test plans to validate design performance. - Create installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures. - Provide support to the engineering team and field service for equipment at Lam labs, factory, and in the field. - Prepare high-quality reports and technical presentations for design reviews. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with 4+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 2-3 years of professional experience. - Strong product development and design experience in the mechanical domain. - Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Solid Edge, CREO, or Siemens NX. - Hands-on experimental and design background with solid engineering skills. - Knowledge of machining, welding, molding, sheet-metal fabrication, and casting processes. - Ability to work effectively in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications: - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with technical presentation abilities. - Proficiency in designing mechanical/electromechanical components, with experience in the semiconductor industry being advantageous. - Experience in project management and problem-solving while managing time and priorities. - Proficiency in designing medium complex sheet metal structures and creating manufacturing drawings. - Knowledge of thermal hand calculations and basic simulations for heat dissipation solutions. - Familiarity with Engineering Change Management Process, SAP, PLM, TCE, and relevant industry standards. The Mechanical Engineer at Lam will be responsible for designing and defining cutting-edge mechanical, thermo-mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems. Your role will involve feasibility studies, testing, and detailed design & development. You will own and execute medium-complex Mechanical sub-system projects to design, develop, optimize, and implement design solutions in Lam Products. These projects will be driven as part of NPD, Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction, and/or reliability improvement initiatives. In collaboration with both internal and external Cross Functional Teams (CFT), you will ensure that the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing, and obtain approvals by following the Product Development & Release (PDR) process. You will develop and present reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis, and validation at design reviews. Additionally, you will develop and execute test plans to generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design. Your responsibilities will also include performing analytical work to characterize and specify designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics, and manufacturability. You will design and develop thermo-mechanical components with an understanding of fluid flow characteristics. The ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelors's or Masters's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4-8 years of relevant experience. Hands-on experience in taking designs from concepts to detailed engineering, including tolerance analysis, problem-solving, testing, and interaction with suppliers, will be valuable. You should be able to identify technical risks and mitigate them through appropriate calculations, conduct design reviews, and seek approval in collaboration with stakeholders to implement design. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, as you will be required to present design concepts to peers and management effectively. Knowledge and exposure to relevant industry standards such as ANSI, ASME, SAE, ISO, and SEMI will be preferred.
