Job Description

As a member of the team, you will design and develop a robust semantic layer and underlying data model to bridge the gap between technical data and business language. Your primary objective will be to facilitate intuitive self-serve access to data in simple business language for easy exploration and analysis by users across the organization. You will apply data virtualization principles on a cloud environment and collaborate with business and technical partners to define and refine a comprehensive data model, ensuring semantic consistency across platforms. Your role will contribute to continuously improving data quality and accessibility standards. You will work independently within functional guidelines and receive minimal guidance from a supervisor. - Collaborate with the data architect to understand the overall data strategy and requirements for the semantic layer. - Design and develop a comprehensive semantic data model reflecting the business meaning of data entities and relationships. - Participate in testing and validating the semantic data model to meet performance and usability requirements. - Define data quality checks, transformations, and cleansing rules, and implement them within the semantic layer. - Document the semantic data model including detailed entity definitions, relationships, and data lineage information. - Engage with business and technical partners to translate technical data terminology into clear and simple business language. - Analyze data sources from multiple systems to understand their structure, content, and relationships. - Collaborate with data source owners to enable data access through the semantic layer. - Apply data virtualization expertise to access, integrate, and analyze diverse datasets for valuable insights. - Work with IT and technical partners to define and implement security provisioning measures for data access. - Stay updated on best practices, trends, and advancements in data and semantic modeling methodologies. - Minimum 4-6 years of work experience in the field - Bachelor's degree - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to convey complex technical data in simple business language - Analytical and problem-solving skills - Strong technical aptitude - Proficiency in SQL and relational databases - Understanding of data virtualization principles, cloud-based data management, and analytics technologies - Knowledge of data quality, data governance, security, and data classification principles Capgemini is a global leader in partnering with companies to transform and manage their business through technology.
