Purpose This role offers an exciting opportunity to join Seerist, a growing company and industry leader in cutting-edge technology and tools for predictive security analysis. The position will join Seerist’s growing Research & Collections team to create and maintain analytical products in Seerist. This role will support Seerist’s research and collection effort. In this role, you will design collection strategies, research and analyze new sources, and implement them on Seerist’s platform. In addition to long-term projects that enhance the research and collection products offered by Seerist, the role will also participate in a daily workflow centered on actioning source requests and tailoring the product to minimize noise while meeting clients’ specific needs with a focus on political, security, and operational risk issues. This role will also contribute to developing and maintaining intelligence products for Seerist clients. Role and responsibilities: Identify, obtain, and maintain access to online media sources relevant to Seerist’s customer base. This will include working with development and data science teams to incorporate new sources and search strings into the Seerist product. Collect and analyze data from publicly available sources including social media, news social media, news websites, blogs, forums, and public records. Develop and maintain knowledge of perceptions, trends, and public opinions across countries, particularly how countries’ cultural, linguistic, and political characteristics influence journalism and public discourse. Contribute to developing and maintaining analytical products. Collaborate with other colleagues within the team and wider organization to ensure collections strategies align with evolving analytical requirements. Requirements: Demonstrated practical knowledge of geopolitical issues, with ability to connect these issues to source collection. Proven digital investigation and research skills in a context relevant to political, security, or operational risk issues. 2+ years of experience in open-source intelligence research or journalism. Proficiency in English and one or more of the following languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Persian, Portuguese, Tamil, Urdu. Comfortable with planning and executing research tasks on subjects that may not be familiar. Ability to evaluate information, identify biases, and make sound judgments. Strong sense of curiosity and knack for finding novel, creative ways to generate insights from sources and raw data. Enthusiasm for learning new technical skills. This role will directly support Seerist’s client-first mission. In this role, you will contribute to alerting clients of real-time and emerging indications of global threats and disruption. You will be responsible for researching global threats and assisting in the optimization of client threat alerting. This is a hybrid position, in the office 2-3 days per week. Role and responsibilities: Research relevant information on current global events and trends, including locations, major players, affected assets and sectors Configure in-app alerts based upon event trends, keywords, hashtags, names and locations Collaborate with other colleagues in Seerist, with input from our clients, to support rapid notification of political, operational, and security risk issues Identify trends in data and conduct basic data analysis in response to requests from internal and external stakeholders Research geopolitical events and the threat landscape to create narrative-based report materials Use PowerPoint to compile security assessments based upon the content found in the Seerist platform Create client-facing products that tell a compelling story of geopolitical threats and risks identified using the Seerist platform Requirements: Proven research skills, ideally in a context relevant to political, security, or operational risk issues Excellent knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and the Office 365 suite Knowledge of, and a keen interest in major global breaking security incidents and trends Interest in newsworthy global events, such as elections, security, conflict and disruption Strong English-language writing skills; able to write short products with minimal editorial review Understanding of political violence and security risks and how they relate to clients across a range of sectors Strong sense of curiosity.
