Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) Biology & Head of Department (HOD) Science at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, located in Gwalior. The role involves teaching Biology to higher secondary classes, managing the Science department, conducting laboratory experiments, guiding research projects, and mentoring students. The PGT Biology & HOD Science will also be responsible for curriculum development, lesson planning, and collaborating with other teachers to enhance the overall educational experience. Role & responsibilities PGT Biology Job Responsibilities Teach Biology to senior secondary classes (XI & XII) as per CBSE/ICSE/IB curriculum. Prepare lesson plans, teaching aids, and innovative strategies to make learning engaging. Conduct practicals, experiments, and demonstrations in the Biology laboratory. Prepare students for board exams, competitive exams (NEET, Olympiads, etc.) . Assess, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback on students’ academic performance. Integrate ICT tools and digital resources in classroom teaching. Maintain discipline, decorum, and a positive learning environment. Provide academic counseling and mentoring to students. Organize subject-related activities – science quizzes, exhibitions, projects. Collaborate with colleagues for interdisciplinary teaching. Keep records of lesson plans, results, assignments, and lab work. Support hostel life by being available for academic guidance during evening/prep time. HOD Science – Job Responsibilities Lead and manage the Science Department (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics if integrated). Plan and implement the academic calendar for the department. Supervise lesson planning, teaching quality, and assessment methods of all science teachers. Ensure syllabus coverage, timely completion, and adherence to board guidelines. Coordinate laboratory management (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and ensure safety protocols. Guide and mentor teachers in adopting innovative teaching strategies. Monitor students’ academic performance and plan remedial/enrichment programs. Organize science exhibitions, Olympiads, fairs, seminars, and workshops . Liaise with the Principal/Academic Coordinator regarding curriculum planning and departmental progress. Conduct departmental meetings to review progress and resolve issues. Encourage integration of STEM/STEAM projects and experiential learning. Promote research orientation and inquiry-based learning among students. Provide career guidance in science-related fields. Maintain departmental records – results, projects, achievements, inventories.
Advise students on appropriate costumes, ornaments, and makeup for their performances, ensuring authenticity and cultural accuracy. Provide structured lessons in Kathak and Bharatanatyam, including fundamental techniques, postures, mudras (hand gestures), footwork, and expressions (abhinaya). Teach students both traditional and contemporary adaptations of these classical dance forms. Choreograph and prepare students for performances during school events like annual day, founders day, festivals, and inter-school competitions. Guide students in solo and group performances, ensuring synchronization, presentation, and adherence to classical traditions. Coordinate with other faculty members to integrate dance performances into cultural programs, celebrations, and school assemblies. Collaborate with music teachers for live accompaniments or background scores. Organize dance workshops, inter-house competitions, and special sessions to engage students in extracurricular learning. Identify and mentor talented students for participation in state, national, and international cultural events.
