Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and empathetic School Counsellor with proven experience in working with children who have special needs. The counsellor will play a key role in supporting students’ emotional, social, and academic growth while fostering an inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions for students, with a focus on those requiring additional support (learning disabilities, developmental delays, autism, ADHD, behavioral/emotional challenges).
  • Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom teachers in managing behavioral and emotional concerns and promoting inclusive practices.
  • Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and emotional support to students when required.
  • Organize workshops and guidance sessions for parents and staff on child development, coping strategies, and inclusive education practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all counselling activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counselling, or related field (with specialization/experience in Special Education preferred).
  • Minimum [X years] of experience as a School Counsellor, with a strong background in supporting children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of child psychology, behavioral interventions, and inclusive education methods.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and observation skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and able to build trust with children and families.
