We are a leading precision parts manufacturing company specializing in high-accuracy components for various industries, including automotive, aerospace, electrical, and industrial machinery. Our manufacturing processes demand the highest quality raw materials, and we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to manage and optimize our raw material procurement, specifically metal commodities such as Copper, Aluminium, and Steel . Job Summary: The Purchase Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials (Metals, Copper, Aluminium) required for the production of precision components. The role involves vendor development, cost optimization, ensuring timely availability of materials, and working closely with the production and quality teams to ensure material compliance and delivery schedules. Key Responsibilities : Procurement of Raw Materials: Manage end-to-end procurement of Copper, Aluminium, Steel, and other relevant metals. Monitor market trends and commodity pricing to make informed purchasing decisions. Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers (domestic and international). Establish long-term partnerships with key suppliers to ensure quality and cost efficiency. Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery terms with vendors. Achieve cost savings without compromising material quality. Inventory & Planning: Coordinate with production planning to align material procurement with production schedules. Maintain optimum inventory levels and monitor lead times. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure proper documentation including purchase orders, delivery notes, and quality certificates. Adhere to company procurement policies and regulatory standards. Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with Quality, Production, and Finance teams to ensure material specifications, quality standards, and payment terms are met. Risk Management: Mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price volatility, and material shortages. Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 2 4 years of relevant experience in procurement of industrial metals, preferably in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of metal properties, grades, specifications , and local sourcing practices . Skills & Competencies : Strong negotiation and communication skills. Analytical mindset with excellent cost management abilities. Understanding of procurement software/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.). Ability to read technical drawings and material specifications. Up-to-date knowledge of raw material market trends and logistics. Preferred Qualifications : Prior experience in purchasing raw materials for CNC machining, die-casting, forging, or similar high-precision operations. Experience with ISO or other quality system environments.
