Job Description – Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) Position: Supplier Quality Engineer Location: Coimbatore (with occasional vendor visits) Department: Quality / Supply Chain Role Overview The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance processes at suppliers’ facilities to ensure components and assemblies meet required specifications. This role will involve supplier audits, process capability studies, pre-dispatch inspections, coordination with internal teams, vendors, and customers to drive continuous improvement in supplier quality performance and to fulfill customer documentation and approval requirements. Key Responsibilities Evaluate, qualify, and approve new suppliers based on quality system audits. Monitor and assess supplier performance (PPM, on-time delivery, NCRs). Work closely with suppliers to address quality issues and drive corrective actions (CAPA). Review incoming parts against drawings and specifications. Conduct pre-dispatch inspections at vendor premises and ensure adherence to quality standards. Verify special process parameters (machining-to-casting references, coating, heat treatment). Investigate supplier non-conformities and lead root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.). Recommend process improvements to suppliers to reduce defects and rework. Work on cost-effective quality improvement solutions without compromising standards. Maintain supplier quality records, inspection reports, and audit findings. Support APQP, PPAP, FAI, and other customer-required documentation for new parts. Coordinate with customers for updates, feedback, and submission of all required quality documentation and approvals. Prepare monthly supplier quality performance dashboards. Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production, or related field. Experience: 2–5 years in supplier quality, vendor development, or process quality (casting, machining, fabrication background preferred). Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T. Familiarity with measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, CMM, VMS, Radiography). Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, 8D, CAPA, Control Plan and ISO 9001/TS 16949 standards. Soft Skills: Strong communication and vendor/customer coordination skills. Analytical and problem-solving mindset. Ability to travel for supplier and customer visits as required.
