Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an Intern in Home Furnishings located in New Delhi. The intern will assist with day-to-day tasks including supporting the design team, managing fabric inventories, coordinating with suppliers, assisting with site measurements, and ensuring the quality of installations. The role will also involve research on market trends, contributing to design concepts, and participating in client meetings to understand and deliver project requirements. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Intern to support our merchandising operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in home textiles, good organizational skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within the industry. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the end-to-end execution of buyer orders – from designing the samples to final dispatch. Coordinate with design and production teams to develop and finalize product samples (Bedspread ,Quilts & cushions, curtains, Duvet, etc.). Maintain product development timelines and ensure samples are prepared and sent as per buyer schedules. Follow up with suppliers, production units, and internal teams for timely order fulfillment. Maintain records of buyer communications, tech packs, product specifications, and approvals. Prepare costing sheets and quotations in coordination with the merchandiser and directors. Assist in creating product presentations and catalogs for buyers. Monitor quality standards during production and flag potential issues proactively. Ensure accurate and timely documentation for projects (e.g., invoices, packing lists, shipment tracking, delivery, installation). Stay updated with current home furnishing trends, materials, and market preferences. Qualifications PBachelor’s degree or diploma in Textile Design, Merchandising, Fashion Management, or a related field. 0–2 years of experience in home furnishings, textiles, or apparel merchandising. Knowledge of textiles, fabrics, basic printing/embroidery techniques is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Hands on Photoshop, Illustrator or Procreate and other Adobe tools to refine patterns and textures. Basic understanding of export documentation is advantageous. A team player with good multitasking and time management abilities. Willingness to travel locally to vendors/suppliers if required. The ideal candidate will be passionate about color, pattern, and material, with a strong understanding of textile production processes and current market trends. Key Responsibilities Design and Development Design Development: Create unique, original textile designs, patterns, renders, and graphics for a range of soft home furnishing products, including upholstery, bedding, curtains, cushions, and throws. Color and Material Selection: Select appropriate colors, patterns, materials, and finishes, ensuring they align with the brand aesthetic, considering production processes (e.g., printing, weaving, embroidery), and current market trends. Trend Research: Proactively stay informed about the latest and emerging trends, innovations, materials, and colors in textile design and the broader home furnishings industry. Presentation: Develop and create compelling design concepts, mood boards, and presentations, swatches for review by clients, internal stakeholders, and merchandising teams. Technical and Production Technical Specifications: Prepare high-quality digital artwork and comprehensive technical specifications for manufacturing. This includes pattern repeats, color separations, scale, and ensuring designs are correctly prepared for printing or weaving (e.g., preparing CAD files). Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with internal teams, including Production, Sourcing, and Merchandising, to ensure designs are technically practical, cost-effective, and meet brand and commercial requirements. Quality Control: Participate in the review and approval of strike-offs, samples, and prototypes to ensure final products meet the required quality standards, color accuracy, and are prepared smoothly for mass production and dispatch. Coordination: Coordinate with the client's teams for design approvals and sample selections. Qualifications Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Textile Design, Surface Pattern Design, or a related design field is typically required. Software Proficiency: Demonstrated high proficiency in industry-standard textile design software, including Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop . Knowledge of CAD software relevant to textile design is a plus. Experience: Proven experience as a Textile Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing work specifically within the home furnishings sector (soft furnishings is highly desirable). Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of various textile manufacturing processes, such as digital and rotary printing, weaving (dobby/jacquard), knitting, and dyeing techniques.
