The technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the fleet of cranes, rolling material, and lifting equipment to ensure a high standard of maintenance at all times. Operating from the local repair center/workshop, the technician aims to prevent and remedy failures following the quality, safety, health, and environmental regulations of Sarens, local legislation, or manufacturers" guidelines. The technician will actively participate in the installation and mechanical completion of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) in a timely manner. This includes tasks such as receiving and offloading major components, preparing, locating, lifting, and installing major WTG components, installing loose components for Nacelle, hub, and tower preparation, connecting blades to hub, rotor preparation and installation, hub preparation and staging, blade lifting, handling, and torquing, rotor preparation and installation. Additionally, the technician is responsible for completing all service reports and associated documentation daily, having daily work sheets signed off by the supervisor/manager, reporting opportunities for continuous improvement, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), identifying required tools and parts for each assigned work, conducting re-certification of equipment and tools, checking availability of tools and parts before the actual work day, participating in toolbox and daily work team briefings, and observing all work instructions, procedures, safety codes of practice, employer OH&S, environmental requirements, and statutory rules and regulations. Requirements for this position include an in-depth understanding of the different components of the wind turbine, including the electrical pitch system to complete the installation and MCC, ability and willingness to work on weekends, public holidays, shift work, or on-call duty as required, ability to influence others and lead small teams, willingness to train others as applicable, competence in Health and Safety standards (EHS), strong interpersonal and leadership skills, effective problem identification and solution skills, ability and willingness to climb Wind Turbines, 3-4 years of experience in Construction Wind in any OEM, and a strong understanding of Wind Turbine construction.
