Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Monitoring:
  • Monitor and evaluate the safety of fire department operations, including firefighting, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents.
  • Ensure all fire and emergency responders are operating in compliance with safety standards and protocols.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of the scene to identify potential hazards and take corrective action as needed.
  • Risk Management:
  • Assess risks associated with fireground operations and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate those risks.
  • Ensure fire personnel wear proper protective gear and follow safe practices during operations.
  • Assist with the investigation and analysis of accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Training and Education:
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for fire department personnel, covering topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency procedures, and hazardous material handling.
  • Provide ongoing safety education to department members to ensure awareness of best practices and safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor fire department staff in emergency response protocols and safe operation procedures.
  • Compliance and Standards:
  • Ensure the department adheres to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and other relevant safety laws.
  • Conduct regular safety audits of equipment, facilities, and operations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Incident Command Support:
  • Support the Incident Commander during emergency responses by providing guidance on safety-related decisions and ensuring that safety practices are adhered to on the scene.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the incident safety plan and assist with managing emergency operations to minimize the risk to personnel.
  • Safety Equipment Management:
  • Ensure that safety equipment is available, in working order, and appropriately used by the fire department personnel.
  • Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and inventory of safety equipment, including fire-resistant clothing, breathing apparatus, and other protective gear.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of safety-related incidents, inspections, and safety trainings.
  • Prepare reports on safety audits, investigations, and safety performance for department leadership.
  • Assist with the development and revision of safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • Associate’s degree in Fire Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field (Preferred).
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in firefighting or emergency services (Required).
  • Experience in safety or risk management roles within emergency services is highly desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
