Roku Developer

As an experienced Roku Developer in this contractual position, your role will involve designing, building, and maintaining features using Brightscript within the Roku SDK. You will collaborate with designers, product managers, and other engineers to enhance video playback and improve streaming performance for a smooth user experience. Your responsibilities will also include troubleshooting media streaming issues, writing clean code, and staying updated on the latest Roku technologies. Additionally, you will be expected to work across teams to find and document technical solutions using current streaming tools and standards. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain features using Brightscript within the Roku SDK. - Work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to enhance video playback. - Improve streaming performance for low latency and high-quality playback using the Roku Media Player. - Troubleshoot and fix media streaming, buffering, and DRM issues. - Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews. - Stay updated on the latest Roku technologies and help evolve the Roku SDK. - Collaborate across teams to find and document technical solutions using current streaming tools and standards. Qualifications Required: - 3 to 5 years of software development experience, with hands-on Roku/Brightscript experience. - Strong knowledge of Brightscript, Roku SDK, and Roku Media Player. - A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience. - Good debugging and problem-solving skills specific to Roku apps. - Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and Agile methodologies. - Solid communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. - Prior experience building scalable, testable, and performant Roku apps. - Knowledge of scripting languages often used with Roku. - Willingness to be part of on-call support occasionally for critical production issues. - Ability to mentor junior developers and share Roku best practices. - Familiarity with video analytics and performance tracking in Roku apps.,
