Research Associate - Mathematics and Statistics

As a Research Associate at UNSW in Sydney, Australia, you will be part of a collaborative team working on an ARC-funded Discovery Project focusing on High Dimensional Approximation, Learning, and Uncertainty. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement innovative schemes for high-dimensional approximation that are reliable, accurate, and efficient in handling numerous variables or uncertain parameters tailored to specific applications. Key Responsibilities: - Undertake collaborative and self-directed research in High Dimensional Approximation, Uncertainty Quantification, Deep Learning, and Quasi-Monte Carlo Methods. - Contribute to scientific publications, coordinate research activities, engage with industry partners, and participate in relevant conferences and workshops. Qualifications Required: - Hold a PhD in Mathematics, preferably in computational mathematics or a related area. - Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research and possess knowledge in Quasi-Monte Carlo methods, finite element analysis, and/or machine learning. - Proficiency in computer programming languages such as Matlab, C++, or Python. - Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. If you are successful in this role, you will receive a salary range of $113K - $121K plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading.
