RUDA FOUNDATION Empowering Communities | Enabling Sustainable Futures Position: Project Coordinator – Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) Location: Bhuj, Kachchh District, Gujarat (may change as per organisational needs) Reports to: Programme Director – RUDA Foundation Type: Full-time, Project-Based CTC: Up to ₹3,00,000 per annum (Negotiable; higher compensation may be considered for deserving candidates) About the Project Regional and Urban Development Foundation (RUDA) is implementing an Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) Project across Kukma, Bhujodi, Khavda, Dhordo, and Sumrasar Gram Panchayats of Bhuj, Kachchh District. The project aims to minimize environmental and health risks through sustainable waste management practices, emphasizing segregation, collection, and recycling. It integrates a socio-technical model with a social inclusion approach for Safai Mitras (waste pickers), aligning with the Swachh Bharat Mission and Plastic Waste Management Rules (2016 & amendments 2018, 2021). The initiative focuses on building a circular economy model that ensures environmental sustainability, compliance, and livelihood generation. About the Position The position is based in Bhuj (Kachchh District, Gujarat) with frequent field visits to nearby villages and district headquarters. The Project Coordinator will be primarily responsible for the planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the ISWM project. The role requires active coordination and linkages with internal teams, local governance bodies, government departments, and community stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Project . Promote sustainable community practices for household-level dry and wet waste management. Develop and manage project work plans, budgets, and activity schedules. Conduct regular awareness and behaviour change sessions in households, schools, markets, and institutions. Organize training and capacity-building programs for Safai Mitras , SHGs , and community groups on segregation and disposal practices. Establish and operationalize Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) and Micro Compost Centres (MCCs) . Collaborate with recyclers and processors to upcycle dry waste into value-added products and train SHGs accordingly. Develop multi-stakeholder partnerships and ensure effective communication among project actors. Liaise with government departments such as SBM , RDD , GSPCB , and others for convergence and implementation. Ensure systematic documentation, periodic progress reporting, and external communication. Support project assessments, evaluations, and impact documentation. Desired Candidate Profile Postgraduate in Rural Management / Rural Development / Social Work (MSW) / Environmental Science / Sociology / Agriculture / Rural Studies / MBA / ABM or a related discipline. 1–2 years of professional experience in development sectors; experience in solid waste management or Swachh Bharat Mission projects preferred. Exposure to CSR / NGO operations with strong coordination, networking, and advocacy skills. Experience with technology platforms , social enterprises, or mobile-based monitoring systems is desirable. Ability to work independently, manage teams, and coordinate with diverse stakeholders. Required Skills and Competencies Strong interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication in English, Hindi, and Gujarati . Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines. High proficiency in MS Office and digital documentation tools. Sound understanding of development needs at the state and national levels. Ownership mindset with willingness to travel extensively across project sites.
