Job Description Core Duties and Responsibilities: Execute TPF Operations Console commands and procedures to ensure uninterrupted service, optimal performance, and availability of z/TPF systems. Run and monitor TPF utilities and batch jobs for system maintenance and application requirements, including using automated job scheduling tools. Operate and maintain vendor-specific hardware within z/TPF environments (IBM CPUs, virtual tape and DASD subsystems, directors/switches, hardware management consoles). Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network issues in complex mainframe setups. Provide console operations, monitoring, and respond appropriately to system messages and alerts, escalating when needed. Handle ITIL-based incident, problem, and change tickets tailored to the z/TPF environment. Maintain detailed ITIL-driven documentation for processes, procedures, and activities within the z/TPF operation sphere. Participate in the execution of hardware changes (installations, upgrades, decommissions). Control and set processing limits (LPARs, I-streams, MIPs levels) using system commands. Requirements: Minimum 8 years of experience as a TPF Mainframe Console Operator or Support Specialist in a similar environment. High school diploma is required; a bachelors degree in IT or a related field is preferred. In-depth knowledge of z/TPF operations and support, console command execution, hardware maintenance, and mainframe networking. Experience in documentation (following ITIL standards) and process management. Ability to work under pressure, coordinate across teams, handle multiple tasks, and work rotating shifts as part of 24/7/365 support5. Key Skills: Technical expertise in mainframe environments (z/TPF, z/VM). Troubleshooting complex hardware/infrastructure issues. Effective communication and an ability to escalate and resolve problems methodically. Documentation and adherence to change management protocols.
