The Design/Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and improving product designs while ensuring that all products meet quality, reliability, and regulatory standards. This role bridges the gap between design engineering and quality assurance by focusing on design validation, process improvement, and problem-solving throughout the product life cycle. Key Responsibilities Design Responsibilities Design, develop, and modify products, components, and systems in accordance with engineering principles and customer requirements. Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and technical documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, supply chain, R&D, and quality) to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs. Conduct design reviews, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and tolerance analyses. Support prototype development and testing; analyze data to validate design performance. Quality Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards for manufacturing processes and products. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Participate in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and control plan development. Support supplier quality activities, including audits, inspection plans, and incoming quality checks. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, IATF 16949, or other relevant quality systems. Manage quality documentation such as PPAP, FAIR, or validation reports. Monitor key quality metrics (scrap, rework, defect rates) and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma or Lean methodologies.
