Job Description

The Process Automation Field Devices R&D team is searching for a skilled technical lead and manager to join the team. In this role, you will work on enhancing existing products and developing innovative approaches for automation systems utilizing autonomous intelligent devices. Your responsibilities will include managing a small group of Subject Matter Experts (SME) engineers and staff within the core Field Devices R&D team. Additionally, you will collaborate with centers of excellence and partner engineering groups. As the project design lead, you will oversee end-to-end, comprehensive designs for R&D deliverables related to product updates and new offer creation projects. Exciting Innovation PoCs such as Ethernet for field devices, wireless & IoT, embedded AI/ML, and other digitization enablers are part of the projects. These PoCs are driven by direct customer feedback, focusing on problem statements and value drivers. Engaging in customer conversations is a crucial aspect of this role. To excel in this position, you should have experience as an individual contributor in direct engineering, specializing in Computer, Electronics, and/or Embedded Software. Preferably, your experience includes working with industrial devices like instruments or actuators that adhere to pressure safety, explosive atmospheres, and functional safety standards. You must possess expertise in leading a multi-discipline team of software/firmware, hardware, and test engineers, demonstrating a strong grasp of R&D process efficiency techniques and the ability to drive process improvements. Familiarity with Offer Creation Processes, productization, and exploration is essential. Prior experience in direct people management and team leadership is preferred.
