Description
In this role at Ciena, you will be part of the Blue Planet platform team, responsible for developing performant, reliable, and maintainable platform services and tools in a large, polyglot, distributed environment. Your key responsibilities will include: - Developing micro-services and tools to support scalable and highly available software systems. - Collaborating with design teams to deliver complete solutions to customers. - Participating in all phases of an agile development cycle - planning, designing, implementing, reviewing, testing, deploying, documenting, and training. - Troubleshooting and resolving customer issues. - Striving for continuous improvement. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Product Line Management, Product Verification, development teams, customer support teams, and documentation team. As a member of the platform team, you will contribute to the modern software architecture of Blue Planet, leveraging open-source technologies, model-driven templates, and container-based micro-services to facilitate more efficient network operations and software-defined programmability. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors/Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. - Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, algorithms, and design patterns. - Proficiency in languages such as Java, Python, or GoLang. - Experience with distributed, highly-available, horizontally scalable systems at large scale. - Interest and ability to quickly learn and ramp up on new languages and technologies. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. Desirable knowledge or experience that would be a plus includes: - Database technology including Postgres distributed SQL, graph databases, etc. - Distributed high throughput messaging systems such as Apache Kafka. - Good knowledge of OS and software security. - Cloud environments like AWS, OpenStack, etc. Ciena is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where employees feel respected, valued, and heard.
