Role Overview As Political Editor, you will lead the coverage of political developments at local, state, and national levels , ensuring that our reporting remains sharp, accurate, and influential. This role combines editorial leadership, political insight, and the ability to build credible networks. Reporting to : Editor – Pune Times Mirror Key Responsibilities Oversee political reporting and analysis across print and digital platforms. Research, commission, and edit impactful political stories. Conduct high-profile interviews with political figures and thought leaders. Analyze policies and decisions to provide context and clarity for readers. Mentor and guide reporters to strengthen investigative and analytical journalism. Coordinate with editorial, digital, and design teams for comprehensive political coverage . Drive exclusive stories, scoops, and ground reports that set the news agenda. Build and maintain strong relationships with political leaders, institutions, and stakeholders. Ensure accuracy, fairness, and timeliness of all political news published. Maintain ethical and responsible journalism standards in every aspect of coverage. Qualifications & Skills Strong knowledge of Indian politics (local, state, and national landscape). Excellent news judgment and storytelling skills. Proven experience in editorial roles (minimum 7–10 years preferred). Existing relationships in the political and governance circuit . Strong research, analysis, and editing skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in Marathi/Hindi is an advantage. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
