Job Summary:
The School Counselor will support the holistic development of students in alignment with the CBSE guidelines for school counseling. The role involves promoting students’ academic success, personal and social development, mental well-being, and career readiness. The counselor acts as a key liaison among students, parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Guidance and Counseling
● Offer one-on-one and group counseling to help students manage academic stress, behavioral issues, emotional difficulties, peer conflicts, and family-related concerns.
● Maintain confidentiality while adhering to child safety and ethical standards.
2. Social-Emotional Learning & Life Skills Education
● Design and conduct age-appropriate SEL sessions, life skills classes, and value education activities as per CBSE guidelines.
● Implement awareness programs on bullying, cyber safety, mental health, gender sensitivity, empathy, and communication skills.
3. Academic and Career Guidance
● Help students set academic goals, improve study habits, and overcome learning challenges.
● Guide students of secondary and senior secondary levels on career choices, subject selection, stream guidance, and entrance exam preparedness.
● Conduct aptitude testing, career assessments, and orientation programs.
4. Parent & Teacher Collaboration
● Engage parents through counseling sessions, workshops, and regular communication to support student development.
● Provide behavioral strategies and classroom management suggestions to teachers.
● Support teachers in identifying students with special needs or requiring emotional support.
5. Student Well-being and Safety
● Serve on the School Management Committee and Internal Complaints Committee as needed.
● Ensure implementation of CBSE’s child protection policies and mental health directives.
● Identify at-risk students and coordinate interventions with school leadership or external professionals.
6. Documentation and Compliance
● Maintain updated counseling records and case files in a secure and confidential manner.
● Prepare student reports and documentation required by CBSE or for referrals.
● Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of counseling interventions.
Qualifications and Experience:
● Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Child Development.
● Certification or diploma in Guidance and Counseling (preferred by CBSE).
● Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a school or child-focused environment.
Core Competencies:
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
● Empathetic listener and problem solver.
● Knowledge of adolescent psychology and developmental milestones.
● Familiarity with CBSE's guidelines on counseling, child protection, and inclusive education.
● Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred:
● Experience conducting psychological assessments or screenings.
● Exposure to inclusive education practices (for students with special needs).
● Fluency in English and one regional language.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
