A packaging material executive is responsible for overseeing the design, sourcing, and quality of packaging materials to ensure they meet cost, brand, and sustainability goals. Their duties include managing packaging projects, coordinating with suppliers, analyzing material performance, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of different materials, manufacturing processes, and logistics. Key responsibilities Design and development: Oversee the development of new packaging solutions and improve existing ones. Sourcing and procurement: Manage the procurement of packaging materials, establish contracts with vendors, and negotiate pricing. Quality control: Ensure all packaging materials meet the required quality standards and specifications. Cost management: Implement strategies to control and reduce packaging costs while maintaining quality. Sustainability: Align packaging materials with the company's sustainability goals regarding recyclability, compostability, or biodegradability. Logistics and supply chain: Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to manage the flow of materials from procurement to finished product. Compliance: Ensure that packaging and materials comply with all relevant industry regulations and company policies. Required skills and qualifications Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of various packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards. Experience: 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management of packaging materils preferably in FMCG industry. Analytical skills: Strong ability to analyze data and solve problems related to packaging performance and costs. Project management: Excellent organizational and project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Communication: Strong communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Experience: Previous experience in packaging sourcing, supply chain management, or a related field is often required. Education: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related field is often preferred, along with significant professional experience.
